What is the NBA D-League?
The NBA Development League is the NBA’s official minor league. The D-League, which began in 2001, prepares players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front offices for the NBA. The 2015-16 season features 19 teams, each affiliated with an NBA team. Each team plays 50 regular-season games, beginning in November. Eight teams qualify for D-League Playoffs, which begin in April. 38 percent of NBA players have D-League experience.
