1. Shavonte Zellous
As the play clock winded down on the New York Liberty possession in the final 40 seconds of the fourth quarter, Shavonte Zellous put up a three with a hand in her face. The shot would be the difference as the Liberty did not relinquish the lead down the stretch. Zellous finished the night with 19 points, nine rebounds, and six rebounds.
2. Jordin Canada
The Seattle Storm’s rookie guard, Jordin Canada put the moves on the Washington Mystics defense in the third quarter, last night. Canada burst down the lane, used the spin move, and beat two defenders in the lane. Canada had six points off the bench, as the Storm beat the Mystics 81-77 in a thriller.
3. Ariel Atkins
The Mystics had a rookie guard of their own making big plays down the stretch last night, too. Ariel Atkins took the ball at the arc and drove to the basket to convert the layup and draw the foul. The play drew the Mystics to within two points with 7:36 left to go in the fourth. Atkins put 18 points on the board off the bench in the loss.
