There are a lot of different rules in basketball. When you are on the court, there are certain things you should not do.
- Shoot on your own basket: If you make it, the other team will get two points.
- Move without dribbling: Any time you have the ball and want to move around the court, you must dribble. If you don’t, the referee will blow the whistle and give the ball to the other team.
Bring the ball across half court and then back: The line that splits the basketball court in two is called the half court line. If a player goes from one side of that line to the other with the ball, they cannot go back. If they do, the referee will blow the whistle and the other team will get the ball. - Ignore your coach: Always listen to your coach. When you are learning the game, there are a lot of things you don’t know. The coach is there to help you get better. As you get better, the game becomes even more fun. You might get so good that you can teach other players what to do.
