Anthony Davis is one of the NBA’s bright, young players. But The Brow is good at more than just one thing. Like many other great players, Davis excels on the court because of his efforts on both offense and defense.
After his 32 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks on November 22 against the Suns, Davis ranks in the top ten in the league in points, rebounds AND blocks! He’s the only player in the NBA to do that this season.
Players are remembered for highlights on offense, but their work in helping the team with defense and rebounding is just as important. If you want to be great like Davis, it’s important to remember the hustle is necessary on both offense and defense.
Check out this list of NBA superstars along with The Brow who should be known as more than just great scorers:
- LeBron James: The four-time MVP has led the NBA in scoring once, but LeBron has been a member of the league’s All-Defensive First Team five times.
- Stephen Curry: Sure, the NBA MVP can shoot from anywhere, but this season the rest of his game is better than ever. Curry is on pace to set new career-highs in both rebounding and steals this season.
- Michael Jordan: Everyone remembers Jordan for his high-flying dunks and game-winning shots, but he also led the NBA in steals three times during his career.
- Dwight Howard: Even Superman knows defense and rebounding is the key to winning! Howard has led the NBA in rebounding five times while being named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in three straight seasons.
- Kevin Garnett: The Big Ticket is one of the 15 highest scorers in NBA history. Garnett ranks even higher though for his rebounding (ninth in NBA history). And when Garnett won an NBA title with the Celtics and yelled, “Anything is Possible!” his defense made that possible. Garnett won NBA Defensive Player of the Year that season.
These players are all great players, but what makes them winners on the court is their ability to do whatever it takes.
