Jr. NBA Program of the Week Winner: Week 2

The Mix at Arbor Place is home to the Lancaster Police Athletic League.  This free recreational program has been around for over 30 years and connects cops and kids together through sports.  Additionally, the Mix selects the top tier of students to participate in another local league as well.

In their submission, the Mix at Arbor Place mentioned that they encourage youth to learn the basics of basketball while having fun and respecting each other. This PAL recently hosted a unique tournament where local youth and local adults played together. The team that won the tournament was not the team with the most individually talented players, but the team that showed the most teamwork and comradery. The Assistant Executive Director of the program wrote that “it was amazing seeing the comradery and respect as teams competed…they knew how to work together to be great”.

The Mix at Arbor Place plans to use their UA grant to purchase new UA basketballs as well as several squeezable water bottles to use during basketball games. Furthermore, they would like to provide headbands for all of the students on their team that play in local leagues.  This PAL’s basketball program in particular is growing and they are excited to model their program in the spirit of the Jr. NBA and be supported by Under Armour.
