Jr. NBA Skills Challenge Local Host Digital Tool Kit

The Jr. NBA would like to thank you for participating in the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge! The program provides boys and girls ages 13 and under the opportunity to showcase their dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense skills in the sport of basketball.  Boys and girls compete separately in two different age groups:  11U and 13U.  Participants compete in up to two levels of competition – Local and National Finals.

The resources provided below are to help you implement a fun and successful Local Competition.

Note: The Local Host Digital Tool Kit is only provided to Jr. NBA Skills Challenge registered hosts.  This is a private link that should not be shared.  Please download and distribute the program details accordingly to your coaches and players. 

  • HANDBOOK

    The Program Handbook is your guide to successfully host and implement the five skills necessary for a player to receive their final cumulative time and possible advancement to subsequent levels of the competition.

    You can download the full Score Sheet here. Download this document for electronic use on your tablet or computer.  It provides built in functionality with formulas for each skill and final cumulative scores.  We have also provided individual score sheet templates for each skill below for ease of use during your local competition:

     

     

  • REGISTRATION/LOG-IN

    You can log in here to your online Skills Challenge account to view your Local Competition page and list of pre-registered players. If you are having trouble, please contact your Jr. NBA Skills Challenge representative or email us at JrNBA@nba.com.

    We encourage you to review the Participant Eligibility requirements listed in the Program Handbook prior to hosting your Local Competition. All participants must pre-register online in order to advance through the Local Competition and National Finals.

    You will receive a unique URL link to your Local Competition page. Once you do, you are encouraged to share it among your network for participants to pre-register in advance of your competition.

    To assist with player check-in on the day of your competition, please use this Player Check-In Process document for some helpful tips.  For help in determining the appropriate age group for each player, please use this Age Verification Excel form.

  • PROMOTION

    You are encouraged to use the below social media graphics and promotional flyer to help generate excitement for your program and to promote player registration for your Local Competition.

    If you selected to have your Local Competition be a private event, only players you market your event to will be able to register.  If you selected to have your Local Competition be a public event, your event will be findable on the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge website for interested players who do not have their own local competition to attend.

    LOCAL AWARDS

    We encourage you to provide each participant of your Local Competition with a participation card that includes their individual and cumulative final times.

    We also encourage you to award the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place scorers of each age and gender division with the below certificates. You can identify your top scorers by comparing the final cumulative time of the participants’ dribbling, shooting, lay-up, passing and defense time.

  • SUBMIT RESULTS

    Results from your Local Competition must be submitted online following your competition for your players to be eligible for advancement.

    By submitting your results, you are certifying the following:

          • The event was conducted according to the rules stated in the Program Handbook.
          • All participants registered for the event utilizing the required digital platform.
          • The scores are correct to the best of your knowledge.
          • Scores are not final until reviewed and verified by the Jr. NBA and unusual scores may require additional authentication and could result in disqualification.
