The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA International Coach Awards honor youth basketball coaches across two recognition categories – INSPIRE and LEADERSHIP – based on their involvement in Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA international programming.

The awards recognize coaches participating in Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA international programming across multiple regions worldwide.

• The INSPIRE Coach Award celebrates school or club team coaches from Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Clinics, Camps, and other non-competition programs.
• The LEADERSHIP Coach Award celebrates school or club team coaches from Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA international competitions such as leagues or tournaments.

Coaches are nominated regionally through an annual process and recognized through finalist selections and published winner profiles.

Garrett Shaw is the founder of Burns Lake Youth Basketball and a dedicated leader in his community. Through Jr. NBA programming, he has helped more young athletes in Burns Lake, British Columbia, experience the game. He supports local coaches with resources and planning, helping create opportunities despite the challenges of serving a remote community. A teacher and multi-sport coach, Garrett leads by example, encouraging respect, teamwork, and positivity on and off the court. His commitment has helped grow participation and build a strong basketball community in Burns Lake.

With more than 40 years of coaching experience, she has led Yibin No. 1 High School to numerous provincial and national titles while supporting her players’ growth on and off the court. As a leading female coach in boys’ basketball, Jia Li has broken barriers and made a lasting impact on youth basketball in China.

A former professional basketball player and German national team member who now competes for Germany’s wheelchair basketball team, she coaches players across clubs like ALBA Berlin and organizations like Berlin Basketball Federation.

Carson Savage

Since launching the program in 2021, he has coached boys and girls from PreK to Grade 6, consistently bringing the fundamentals of basketball to young athletes each year.
