Jr. NBA and Kaiser Permanente are leveraging the power of basketball to educate 5th-8th graders through Slam Dunk: Skills for Success. Launched Oct. 27, Slam Dunk: Skills for Success is a robust educational program that teaches vital life skills like fitness, respect, teamwork, mindfulness, and compassion, that are integral to both the game of basketball and total health, the idea that mind, body and spirit need to be in tune for people to achieve their best.

As part of the program, from 10/27-1/18 schools can enter to win a visit from an NBA legend for an education and Jr. NBA fitness event. Six schools will be chosen, and events will take place in Spring 2017.
About Slam Dunk: Skills for Success
- This program, developed in consultation with health and wellness experts from the NBA’s official health care partner, Kaiser Permanente, engages students in the concept of Total Health through a hands-on approach to learning, including interview projects with a role model, stress management activities, and fitness clinics. Each lesson aims to deliver valuable learning tools to teachers, and drive positive behavior change among students.
- The Slam Dunk: Skills for Success events will allow students to relate the content to key learnings shared by NBA legends in a fun and engaging format.
