Everyone Needs to Pass

Last night, Grizzlies center Marc Gasol scored a career-high 38 points. But just as important in helping his team win were his six assists.

Gasol leads all centers by averaging more than four assists per game and having bigger players who can pass the ball like Gasol make a team’s offense flow much more smoothly.

When you look at some of the best teams in the NBA this season, they are great on offense because all five players pass the ball well. Stephen Curry and Tony Parker may be the best passers on the Warriors and Spurs, but Draymond Green and Tim Duncan have to move the ball too if the team wants to score.

One of the biggest keys to the Spurs championship teams was Duncan’s ability to pass near the basket.
